Cam Tabanlı Petri Dish

Why the WillCo-dish® Glass Bottom Dish?

Glass Bottom Dishes

WillCo-dish® glass bottom dishes we designed (1996) in response to the optical and environmental needs, created by High Resolution Live Cell Imaging. Glass bottom containers are a requirement, when using High Numerical Aperture coverslip corrected objectives. The WillCo-dish® design insures a flat coverslip for optimal imaging. The coverslip is flush with the warming-stage, which:

• Provides optimal and equally divided heating of the cells on the bottom of the dish, which is of major importance!
• Ensures that there are NO optical aberrations, especially in live cell applications
• Ensures that there is NO lateral shift in Z

NOTE:   WillCo-dish® Glass Bottom dishes, they DO HAVE A FLAT coverslip bottom, which will NOT introduce lateral
shift in Z, show NO optical aberrations NOR differences in temperature on the bottom of the dish, whereas an
evenly devided temperature of the liquid is very important, especially in live cell applications.

Design

To keep the glass coverslip bottom flush with the stage-warmer, as well as a flat coverslip bottom, it is essential to have a firm dish, with a solid wall.

Because of these very important issues, the WillCo-dish®-es do not have the familiar thin outer steep-walled shape. The contrary, they make a firm and robust first impression on the Microscope Technician. Still, they look fantastic!

When picking up the dish from a warming-stage, you can see why they look so solid; the dish has an integrated outer ring, which ensures safe handling of the dish and your live cells.

You do not have to worry about the lid, when picking-up the dish, because it has a smaller diameter than the dish. The outer ring gives you a secure grip on the dish and its valuable contents, your cells.

You will enjoy working with the WillCo-dish® Glass Bottom dishes and we will be most happy to place your comments in “REFERENCES” in our site, to tell your Colleagues, what your experiences were, working with the WillCo-dish®-es.

The WillCo-dish® “Series GWSt-5040“, is one out of a “Series” of four (4) types of transparent WillCo-dish® Glass Bottom dishes, all available in a single unit packaging. Per “Blister-Pack” one (1) glass bottom dish and 120 dishes, per case.

Per single dish, we use a PET-G MED BLEU thermo-formed Blister, with a Tyvek® “heat-sealed” cover to protect the dish and keep them STERILE R for five years.

The size of the “Series GWSt-5040” dish is 50 x 7 mm. with a glass aperture of 40 mm. in diameter (Height of the well in the bottom: 1.0 mm.). This is our largest version glass bottom dish, with the largest diameter in the glass opening, in the bottom.

The diameter of the WillCo-dish® “Series GWSt-5040” dish, is 50 mm., right below the “Safe Grip” integrated outer ring/rim around the dish.

The total diameter of the dish is 50.2 mm. When well positioned in a dish-holder, the “Safe Grip” ring/rim around the dish, will support and secure the dish in the holder, when the right diameter (50.0 mm.) of the opening in the dish holder, is applied.

NOTE:  Microscope light passes through the bottom glass orthogonally, the glass resting flat on the stage.

The glass bottom is flat and always flush with the stage (Two very important features):

1.: The glass bottom of the WillCo-dish®-es, is always flush with the warming stage, a design which ensures that the warming-stage heats the glass directly and evenly. This direct heating, ensures even distribution of the same temperature in the dish, which is of major importance for your live cells!

2.: Another reason, why it is very important that the glass bottom is flush with the warming stage is, because it ensures a horizontal/flat coverslip bottom, which is of major importance for your imaging work .

The WillCo-dish® “Series 5040” Glass Bottom dishes, we offer in the following packaging and types:

Blister-Pack : GWSt-5040 and  GWSB-5040 (in black).

Our WillCo-dish® Glass Bottom dish, the “Series GWSt-5040“, is a great Glass Bottom dish. The pearl of the various types of our WillCo-dish®-es! This dish is very popular, among many others, in the field of “Fertility & Infertility” (I.V.F.).

Dedicated for I.V.F., clinical and research:

Designed by experts in the field of I.C.S.I. / “microinjection” fourteen years ago and ever since, used for:
Pre-implantation diagnostics,
I.C.S.I., as well as
I.M.S.I., in many I.V.F. laboratories, all over the world.

This dish is perfect for these applications, because of the large glass surface (40 mm. glass aperture), as well as the low side wall/rim (7.0 mm.) to ensure easy access for both pipets. It has a High Quality 170 micron thin “German Borosilicate Glass” bottom, for High Magnification, in I.M.S.I.

We are sure that you will appreciate our “Series GWSt-5040” dish, Single Unit Packed and STERILE R, for the treatment of your ova, embryo ‘s and sperm cells.

Our GWSt-5040 dishes, have been tested in the independent “Quality Control Laboratory” of EggCentris N.V., in Zellik (Brussels), Belgium.   As a result we point out to you, the following three (3) ” Notes “:

Note 1: Do NOT put “adhesive as well as mineral oil containing” consumables, in an incubator for six days, for
hatching purposes of embryo’s.

TRANSFER all embryos, in to a Certified “all plastic” – or a Certified “all glass” dish,
BEFORE PUTTING THEM IN TO AN INCUBATOR!

Note 2: WHY YOU DO NOT WANT TO PUT A GLASS BOTTOM DISH, IN TO AN INCUBATOR?!

WHEN PUTTING A GLASS BOTTOM DISH IN TO AN INCUBATOR, THE MINERAL OIL MAY DISSOLVE THE
ADHESIVE, USED TO BOND THE GLASS TO THE BOTTOM OF THE DISH, THUS RELEASING THE SOLVENTS LEFT
IN THE ADHESIVE, AFTER UV-CURING. EVEN IF THERE ARE NO SOLVENTS USED, ADHESIVE IS STILL A
CHEMICAL WHICH, ONCE DISSOLVED, MAY HURT THE (HATCHING) EMBRYO.
THESE SOLVENTS MAY REACH THE EMBRYO’S AND TERMINATE THEIR DEVELOPMENT!
Note 3: All WillCo-dish® Glass Botom dishes, all WillCo® Products, are: “FOR RESEARCH, ONLY”.
